A huge percentage of American college students, including SFAI students, take out student loans.  As a result a huge percentage of students leave college heavily in debt.  According to recent reports, student loan debt exceeds total combined credit card debt.  The default rates on student loans is worse than that for subprime mortgages.  However, persons who take out student loans do not have adequate consumer protections.  The SFAI Action Group supports the call on Congress to restore consumer protections for student loans.
