SFAI Action Group -- Principles and Activities
What We Do:
SFAI Action Group activities are designed to:
1. Preserve a quality education at the San Francisco Art Institute, so that current and future students at SFAI can obtain a rigorous fine arts and liberal arts education and further develop themselves as well-educated artists and responsible citizens of the community, and so that alumni can rely on the solid reputation of the institute in their artistic and professional lives;
2. Protect the integrity of SFAI by demanding accountability, compliance with laws, and commitment to high ethical standards in higher education and the workplace;
3. Advocate for diversity, workplace justice, tenure, academic freedom, and free speech, which are all critical to the achievement of a quality education and integrity of SFAI. Accordingly, we ask that SFAI decrease discretionary and non-educational spending, cap tuition fees, raise funds for scholarships, respect collective bargaining, honor union contracts, reinstate or reassign laid-off tenured faculty, and allow students, alumni and employees to speak their minds or make inquiries without fear of retaliation.
